London Bridge is Falling Down

Our first stop is Flagstaff, Arizona (estimated population 58,213). The second most popular attraction in Arizona, behind Charles' parents, is the London Bridge.

On 18 April 1968, the bridge was sold to the American entrepreneur Robert P. McCulloch of McCulloch Oil for US$2,460,000. As the bridge was disassembled, each piece was numbered to aid reassembly and those markings can still be seen today. The bridge was reconstructed at Lake Havasu City, Arizona.

We swung by for a few quick photos and the obligatory drive across it.

And the gas prices . . .

Leaving Los Angeles - 2008 Road Rage Across America Part Deux

Well, after living in California for almost 16 years, I am leaving the state indefinitely. I suppose it is fitting that I first arrived in Pasadena, and now I am leaving from Pasadena. For the 2008 Road Rage Across America, the star of the original Rage is returning. As I drove with Charles from Berkeley to Chicago back in Summer 2005, it is only fitting that I have my revenge by dragging him on this trip.

Packed and ready to go; the Civic's Magic Trunk holds all. And don't worry, we'll be keeping track of gas prices along the way!
