The Nile by Felucca

The next morning supplies are delivered by car to the boat. Here Captain Hany Moon brings onboard a big block of ice to keep the drinks cold during the day. The block of ice reminded me of the days of old at the sno cone stand. We used to "shave" just such blocks of ice to create the sno cones. Just add flavoring and voila!

The mast and sail had to be adjusted so that we could fit under Aswan Bridge. There was not much room to spare.
A leisurely afternoon on the felucca.
Te Rau goes for a swim in the Nile. I hopped in a couple of times as well. At first the water seems frigid, but after a few minutes it is really quite refreshing. There is a tow rope behind the felucca. Once the boat had some pretty good speed in the wind, and we had quite the ride.
A local climbs the palm tree, with hands and barefeet only.
Jason and Te Rau attempt some sand surfing.
Now its the girls turn to show the boys how to do it.
And the locals just watch on in bewilderment.
A view of our boat during a pit stop.
The open field where the felucca was anchored for the night.
These cows look rather skinny.
A few more boats join us that evening. Though later that night, we would scare one off with our singing.
Sunset.
