Destination Destin

After the short tour through Lakeview, we continued eastward into Mississippi. Stopping for gas, we found ourself at the 90 highway so we decide to take the scenic tour along the Gulf of Mexico for a while. We could also still see hurricane Katrina damage passing through Pass Christian, Long Beach, and Gulfport. To end the scenic tour, we decided to stop at one of the casinos in Biloxi where Charles won $37 on craps and I won $12 on nickel slots. We are a couple of regular high rollers! ;-)

Other than the 1 hour it took to get through Mobile and the Mobile tunnel (never found out why the traffic was so bad), the remainder of the ride was uneventful into Destin, the World's Luckiest Fishing Village (est pop 12,162).

For the trip, we drove 3062.6 miles and used approximately 90 gallons of gas, averaging about 34 MPG. Not too bad for a Civic fully loaded with books, clothes, etc & considering the possibility of all those bad gas station pumps . . .
